Lamar Kauffman, Guest Conductor -- Lancaster, PA (Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church)
I've always had an interest in music, and was singing in parts by second
grade. At age seventeen I began directing our church youth chorus, a
position I held for eleven years. My undergraduate major was in math
education, and after graduation I took lessons in voice, piano, violin,
and theory, and taught math and music at Faith Mennonite High School for
seven years. I'm currently finishing up year number two of three as a
graduate student at Westminster Choir College, where I'm double majoring
in music education and choral conducting. Musical highlights over the
years include directing and touring with the Weavertown Youth Chorus and
Faith Chorale; two choir tours to the British Isles; singing in
Westminster Choir; singing with major orchestras in NYC, Phila, and Wash
DC as part of the Westminster Symphonic Choir; the Mennonite Choral
Singers; and most recently a tour of Brazil as manager of the Westminster
Conservatory Youth Chorale. Of course, I'm looking forward to adding
Tapestry to the list! My non-musical hobbies include traveling overseas,
current events, and rollerblading.Back to About Us Page

Benjamin Good -- South Boston, VA (Ebenezer Mennonite
Church)
My first taste of music came from records of the King's Heralds and
Rosedale Chorale, and from being exposed to the singing of the church
chorus my dad directed and the male quartet he sang in. From there my
exposure was greatly broadened to hear many different styles and colors
of music. Today I still am engrossed in quite a variety of musical
styles. I, of a certainty, was not always a bass. From the time I
started singing, and through my twelfth year (or somewhere thereabouts),
I sang soprano. Somewhere in there I discovered I could tag along with
Daddy
and sing tenor. From then on, I dreamed of being a bass, and a few
years later that's what I started singing, especially in our school
chorus. It was there my voice developed into nearly what it is now. My
personal interests in life are usually somewhere close to mechanical
things. I love reading about and meditating on cars and the engines that
make them go fast! (I guess that would probably make my interest in
racing high, wouldn't it?) I currently work as a mechanic at a local
lawn and garden center dealing in Simplicity and Great Dane lawn
equipment. Back to About Us Page

Bradley Fox -- Ephrata, PA (Ephrata Christian Fellowship)
Hi, as you have seen above, my name is Bradley Fox. My parents are Earl
and Lois and I have three older siblings, Gwen, Janelle, and Charles. I
am a senior at Faith Mennonite High School and will be graduating on May
30. I am very excited to be singing with the Tapestry Chamber Singers. My
passion for singing started when I was quite young. I grew up listening
to The Hartville Singers, The King's Heralds, and West Coast Mennonite
Chamber Choir. My parents were the greatest factors in helping me
develop my tastes for great choral music. I also enjoy the King's
Singers and Chanticleer. Last year I had the opportunity to sing with
the Mennonite Choral Singers directed by Lamar. This was an awesome
experience. I am also currently singing in the Faith Chorale and the
Weavertown Youth Chorus. When I'm not singing, or occupied with
school
work, I enjoy snowboarding, playing basketball, hunting, or simply just
hanging out with friends. I also play summer hockey on a team. When I am
out of school I plan on working for my dad, building mini storage barns.
The name of our business is Fox's Country Sheds.Back to About Us Page

Byran Smucker -- Harrisburg, OR (Brownsville Mennonite Church)
Hi, I'm a tenor. I've been a tenor since before my voice changed. Or, wait...back then I was an alto or maybe even (oh NO!) a soprano. I grew
up singing. When I was twelve, AHQ began. I've been singing (tenor)
with this a cappella quartet ever since. Singing in a quartet is a
wonderful thing. Singing in a good choir is another wonderful thing. I was
privileged to sing in the Linn-Benton Community College Chamber Choir for
two years. It certainly broadened my musical experience, and made me
appreciate the beauty of the choir sound, as well as the flexibility a
small choir lends. When I’m not singing, I’m going to school, currently
at Oregon State University. I love to sing, but even more I love to
encourage people in their pursuit of God through music. TAPESTRY, I
believe, will do just that.Back to About Us Page

David Krabill -- Brownsville, OR (Brownsville Mennonite Church)
Hi, I work with my dad in his construction business, although I'm planning to start classes at our local Community College this fall and
work for a degree in Automotive Technology, which is a fancy name for
being a mechanic. My hobbies are driving, singing, driving, listening to
other people sing, driving, eating, driving, reading, and did I mention
driving? I guess I'd have some things in common with at least one other
person in this chorus (besides singing), although I'm not a big NASCAR
fan. (Give me the IRL or Formula One any day.) I've been singing for
just about as long as I can remember, my preferred material to listen to
is Southern Gospel. Ever since 1995 I've been privileged to sing
baritone in the A Cappella Harmony Quartet, which has been a real
blessing, and I've also sang in some choruses in our church at Christmas
and Easter over the last several years. In Spring of 2002 I attended one
term at Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute and was part of the chorus there
on a 3-week tour. Also was at the Bible School started by the Biblical
Mennonite Alliance this past January/February and sang on a one-week
chorus tour there.Back to About Us Page

Konrad Krabill -- Halsey, OR (Brownsville Mennonite
Church)
I was never terribly interested in singing or music in general until our family moved when I was nearly 15 and started attending Brownsville Mennonite Church. It was there that my interest in singing piqued, mostly on account of Tom, David, and Byran. I have enjoyed singing with AHQ the last eight years. I enjoy many things out-of-doors, like riding a bike, taking in a beautiful sunset, sharing these experiences with others (especially a certain someone....I love you, Shannon:), or just going on a Sunday afternoon drive. I enjoy listening and sharing with someone about GOD and the awesomeness and wonder of Who He is. I have worked in the grass seed industry for the last eight years and am currently employed at Valley View Farming Inc. in Halsey, Oregon.Back to About Us Page

Tom Troyer -- Brownsville, OR (Brownsville Mennonite Church)
I love a cappella music, especially quartets. I've been singing lead with AHQ for 8 years now, and it's been a boatload of fun in addition to a boatload of work! But God has given us many fantastic opportunities and experiences, and we have been the recipients of many blessings. I also sing lead with Razorburn, my new barbershop quartet (2003 International Prelim Finalists!). I am a student at Linn-Benton Community College studying Computer User Support. I sing bass in the Chamber Choir at college, so I am familiar with the joys and struggles of singing in a small choir, and I consider it a very rewarding experience. I also love to hit the road on a singing tour, so I'm really looking forward to being a part of Tapestry!Back to About Us Page
